Calgon Carbon buys water treatment co. Hyde Marine

<div id="subtitle">Calgon Carbon buys ship water treatment system producer Hyde Marine for undisclosed sum</div><div><p>Calgon Carbon Corp., which sells air and water purification services, said Monday it has acquired Hyde Marine Inc., which makes water treatment systems that use ultraviolet light technology.</p><p>Terms of the deal were not disclosed.</p><p>Hyde's systems treat vessel ballast water, which is stored in tanks or cargo holds of ships to help them maneuver and remain stable. The marine industry's release of ballast water and transport of potentially harmful organisms will be under stricter standards starting this year.</p><p>The regulation is scheduled to be phased in globally over a 10-year period, and industry sources estimate that it will require ballast water from more than 40,000 vessels by 2020 to be treated.</p><p>Shares rose 18 cents to close earlier at $13.57.</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=68272039&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
